Careers in the Piping Trades

Craftsmen and women who are members of Pipe Trades Unions are the best paid, best trained and most productive in our field... Wages are excellent, and combined with pension plans, health insurance and other valuable fringe benefits, our members can look forward to a secure and rewarding future and retirement.

Careers are available in two different ways. For those with no or little experience apprenticeships are offered. An apprentice serves for five years, during which time they attend school two nights a week, and work on the job a regular 40 hour week. At the successful completion of the requirements, journeyman status is attained.

For those with more than five years expedence in the trade, opportunities are available for placement as a provisional journeyman depending on experience and skill levels.

Apprentice applications are available at the Syracuse Office, 150 Midler Park Drive on the 4th Wednesday of the month from 9AM until 12 noon. The last month applications will be available for the current recruitment cycle will be April, 2008.

In the Ithaca area, applications for apprenticeships are available on the first working Monday of every month from 8AM until 3:30PM. The Ithaca Union office is located at 701 Gest State St. Applications are available in Ithaca for all 12 months of the year.

If you are presently working in the trade and would like to discuss career opportunities please feel free to call either Union Hall to set up an interview.
